Our History:

2010 - First launch in Ghana
BIMA MILVIK launches in Ghana, under the brand name, BIMA. We partner with Tigo to bring Family Care Insurance to customers.

2011 - 2nd year, 2nd market, 2nd product
We launch our second product with partner Tigo in Ghana and start operations in Tanzania under the brand name MILVIK.

2012 - Big investments and our first step into Asia.
Kinnevik and Millicom invest in BIMA MILVIK and we launch in Bangladesh under the brand name MILVIK.

2013 - We expand our product offer
We launch our very first Hospital insurance product. Leapfrog Investments commits funding to BIMA MILVIK to drive further expansion.

2014 - Hitting the million mark
We hit the milestone of one million policies sold.

2015 - We go beyond insurance
BIMA MILVIK launches mHealth services. We now give people access to vital health services at the touch of a button. We launch in Pakistan, operating under the brand name BIMA.

2017 - US$100 million investment
Axiata and Allianz X come onboard as new investors to drive our expansion.

2018 - Launch of telemedicine
We start expanding our healthcare solutions to include telemedicine and launch in Malaysia under the brand BIMA.

2019 - We win ‘Oscar’ of the mobile industry
BIMA MILVIK wins “Best Innovation for health and Biotech” at the GSMA GLOMO awards, considered the Oscars of the mobile industry.

2020 - Investment to drive product innovation
Investment from CreditEase, Allianz and Leapfrog will drive product innovation and mass adoption of digital health solutions across Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

2022 - US$20 million investment
We secure fresh funds from Allianz and Leapfrog to roll out our health wallet in multiple markets.
