Our story starts how only the best do. Once upon a rye… in humble kitchen in Bolton, in 1876. With Ellen Warburton – the great-great-great-great grandmother of bread. Who, while running a grocery shop with her husband Thomas, made her simplest, but most life-changing decision yet. To begin baking. Flour-faced and with a passion for the perfect crust, her first batch sold out in under an hour. Within two weeks, their tiny shop was renamed ‘Warburtons the Bakers’. Today, we’ve risen high. From that small orange shopfront – to the UK’s largest bakery. And it’s all thanks to one crucial ingredient. Family. Passionate, proud and with bonds stronger than any corporate machine. Still run by Jonathan, Ross and Brett – fifth-generation Warburtons – that family spirit is how we produce over 2 million baked goods that fuel the nation, every day. And it’s the reason we’ve spent the last 150 years rolling up our sleeves to keep Ellen’s legacy alive. It’s how we invest in innovations that fill stomachs, fuel minds, and push boundaries. And give our gluten-free friends bread that’s well worth their butter. It’s how we source the best ingredients, offer farmers fair prices, And always treat everyone with the utmost respect. It’s how we know (from experience) that anyone worth their salt can rock a hairnet. And it’s how we pick each other up, through thick and thin (after delicious thin). It’s how we compete for the tastiest bakes, bag world-class wheat. And never take our slot in the nation’s toaster for granted. It’s how we do things differently, With heads held high, Smiles spread wide, And dimples that’d make our crumpets proud. Because at Warburtons we’re not your average people, And we’re not your average bakery either. IT'S HOW WE ROLL
