I worked at Jacobs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. I was at my happiest when I worked for Jacobs - truly inclusive, respectful, autonomous, excellent work - life balance, challenging but highly enjoyable working environment
    2. Beyond Zero and culture of caring is truly world class and unlike anything I have ever experienced - it's a game changer for the company and a key part of their EVP
    3. Working with the brightest minds in the industry has added value to my career in terms of knowledge acquired
    4. Have becoming a bigger name since the acquisition of CH2M - one of the best names to work for in the industry

    Cons

    1. Management decision making is too US centric
    2. Can be overtly political at times
    3. Certain managers are not suited to the positions they hold - creating a disconnect with subordinates

    Advice to Management

Break down the regional silos by allowing different regions more autonomy in decision making. Continue to build on the acquisition of CH2M. This could be on of the best companies to work for on the planet!

    Intern Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Manchester, England
    No Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Jacobs (Manchester, England) in May 2018.

    Interview

The two people who were interviewing were very friendly and put my nerves at ease. Although there were some structured 'official' interview questions , the interview was more of a discussion rather than question answer. This worked alot better as it allowed me to talk freely about what I liked and engineering in general. They also went through my cv and cover letter and we talked about its contents. They had read these before hand and asked about different parts of them.

The interview process was relaxed and friendly and I came out of it feeling good.

They emailed me after 3 weeks as promised in the interview and gave me feedback.
