Company Updates

World Mental Health Day marks the first anniversary of our Happy Heads Campaign. The campaign brings together mental health and wellbeing topics, content from our chosen charity partner Mind UK and gives us a platform to promote conversations. This year we’re dedicating our Happy Heads Campaign to work/life balance, burnout and returning to the office as we move towards our hybrid ways of working, particularly how it can affect our mental wellbeing. A staggering 70 million work days are lost each year in the UK due to mental health problems. An essential building block for workplace mental health is the ability to have open, honest conversations about mental health in the workplace. We Care is one of our core values underpinning our wellbeing focus. Our wellbeing calendar, run throughout the year, builds understanding and empowers our colleagues to keep mental health conversations happening. #WMHD #DoOneThing

Celebrating Pride month is part of our commitment to create a great place to work where colleagues can be their true self at work and have the opportunities to succeed, no matter their background. Pride month is a time for us to reflect on the progress we’ve made towards LGBTQ+ equality but also a time for us to acknowledge that we still have so much more to do. Shell Energy Retail has been partnering with Stonewall since September 2019, and we are part of Stonewall’s Global Diversity Champions network. Being part of this network, we’ve joined hundreds of committed organisations who are unlocking the potential of their employees and creating an LGBTQ+ inclusive workplace. Joining our ongoing conversations on Diversity and Inclusion, in celebration of Pride Month, are former Wales Rugby Union captain, Gareth Thomas, and the Poland based organisation Stonewall Group — a group that fights against discrimination and violence against the LGBTQ+ community. We wish all our colleagues and customers a happy Pride. #Pridemonth #Acceptancewithoutexception

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Shell Energy Retail (Coventry, England) in Jul 2021

Started with an email inviting me to a telephone interview. She then asked me the usual questions like ‘tell me a time when you gave excellent customer service’ etc . then I was invited to a 1.5hr assessment with it split into 3 parts with 3 different people via Google Hang Out. The first part was competency questions, second part was a scenario based assessment so they will give you a scenario and you have to rate the 4 options into ‘most likely to use’ and ‘least likely to use’ and the last part was the role play. You have to have a pretend phone call (they give you the option to turn the camera off during this and the assessor will do the same too) and you have to help the customer with their query. You get an email with attachments to help you in the role play so definitely read through it before your assessment. All assessors were lovely and made me feel so relaxed and calm. Really put you at ease as it can be quite daunting. The time flew by.

Tell me a time where you were under pressure and how did you move forward?
