Good company to work for but lots of room to improve

      Pros

Nice people to work with Good Brand to work for Mat and Pat pay is excellent Life assurance is great No weekends for senior management Good recent pay review Opportunities to grow but only up to certain level after which it depends on certain criteria Some colleagues will help you no matter what Working hard to improve as a company - systems are improving and people are also becoming better Contact Centre staff very hard working and Hub team managers work extremely hard Alot of investment by Shell.

      Cons

Diversity in the upper management is poor - Literally minimal representation- everyone is aware but not much has been done about this. Loads of people earning same salary at channel and hub level. However they do a lot less work and management do nothing about . Heads of department clueless to this. Soooo demotivating. These same people are out and about during the day, some don't respond to you for days yet when you look in their calendars it says they are busy all day. All whilst you work super hard and get nothing extra in return. This is 100% the truth and something needs to be done about it because a lot of managers are aware and right now nothing has been done about it. The Fear is no one will do anything about it except tell the people in question. I have no ulterior motive with this except to ensure that staff who still work for Shell are treated fairly, as I care a lot about them. Senior management do not know who is really doing well and who is not - they take what people say at face value - what this means is the real people who add success get ignored. Some people talk the talk but deliver minimal value or what they said they would. Example: A manager who shares a report or presents data once in a while, will get praise for the work that the whole department has been doing. Sharing data or a report or showing data doesn't mean you are the sole reason for the success or failure. it's a collective effort but rarely is it seen like that. You have some departments with 2 teams and they have 2 senior managers managing 2 TMS. Why ? Waste of money and lack of efficiency. Some departments have managers managing 0 people - yet earn same as hub managers ? Absolute craziness and injustice towards the management team. This is no one but the senior managements fault to let this happen. The amount of waste in the company is crazy. Only saying this because I care about people. And more managers will leave if this carries on. Too many senior managers are selfish and do not think about bigger picture - they keep extra staff in their teams to cover inefficiencies and again senior leaders have no clue about this. Instead give them even more staff. Planning only know what happens in contact centre - They need to look at other teams such as complaints, back office and quality etc. Streamline resource based on what the needs are not what the leaders say they need. Hardly any empowerment - everything has to be checked and signed off by 10 managers and leaders before we can get things done- by that time the issue has already escalated 10 fold. More empowerment would mean that things could be so much better in the company

True and honest to their employees and good work & life balance. Lots of help and support available to employees when needed and lots of development opportunities available. They truly care about people.

      Cons

Lots of recent changes in the energy market means a lot of instability and doubt amongst employees which is expected but nothing major.

      Pros

There aren’t really any pros working for SERL.

      Cons

Really toxic place to be, you are expected to be working in your own time. Ie getting logged into systems etc 10 to 15 minutes before you start. Colleagues who were suffering from covid also have the mental burden that they don’t offer sick pay just SSP. Staff who are off with Covid related issues are expected to be in constant communication even though if you provide medical certification that you aren’t well. If you face fits at Shell then great, if not they will dismiss you in your probation period period. The amount of work you are expected to do will cause burn out. Staff turnover here is ridiculous. In this place there is no support what’s so ever and when you ask for help you’re made to feel like you are stupid. Management do the least amount of work as possible and are always in ‘meetings’ when support is asked for. You have to rely on colleagues helping you who want also do the least amount of work as possible, The induction trainers are arrogant and rush through training material. Despite what people feel about working here you are expected to give glowing reviews that working here is really good so you get a bonus. It’s Ridiculous.
