Inability to retain employees

Pros

If you say nothing, make no impact, never do more or less, you will never be noticed, positively or negatively. You will have an easy way to move up by just doing the bare minimum.

Cons

- Retention: I have worked here for a period of time. It is easy to see that the seniors in most departments have been employed for less than 1-2 years. - Ineffective Supervisors: Most of the supervisors are overworked enough or are occupied with other hobbies to care about you on an individual basis. - Hiring: Employees are placed in a hat and seemingly hired at random without thought for team fit.

Pros

This company does not have any pros.

Cons

1-Just to give you an idea how bad this company is, I willingly resigned from my position 3 months after getting hired while I had no other alternative jobs secured! 2-This company deceptively lures in experienced and skilled people who are desperate to find a job, and pays them insultingly low salaries while overworking them to the point of burnout. Salary for a scientist, Ph.D.-level position is in the range of 55-65K/year, which barely meets the minimum of the national range. 3-During my time at this company, I saw people getting fired because of falsifying lab report data, which I noticed happened more than once. I wonder how they are working under cGMP! People receive very poor to no training on the job and are heavily punished for unintentional mistakes. 4-In the interview, you’d be probably told that there is room for growth and you can work your way to upper and higher-paid roles, but that is just a false promise. Also, if you’re working as an “R&D scientist”, you’d be just doing bench work over and over without doing actual research and development. Interesting how it is called “R&D scientist” … 5-The way the company handles reports was ridiculously old, at least during my time in late 2023. They used papers for lab reports and transferred them to another building for data review. The data review needed to correct the reports and send them back each time. So a lot of time was wasted in the process and both data review and scientists needed to stay for longer hours just because of this ridiculous process. Also, many times the papers got lost during transfer and both the data review office and R&D scientists blamed each other. 6-You will receive minimal training as either data review or R&D scientist, but expect to be severely punished and limited for any trivial mistake you make during your training! Expect to see emails about your mistake coming while everyone else in the company is CC’d. Gossip and backstabbing is a normal part of a typical workday while the director believes every lie he’s told. Also, the CEO of the company comes around occasionally to humiliate his employees. Go figure… Overall, I strongly recommend you to stay away from this place, which is what I should have done in the first place.

Pros

As many others have said, there's a tremendous feeling of comradery among your coworkers. Flexible work hours are great.

Cons

The management does not listen and see people as people first, employees second. Very toxic employees are allowed to run havoc among the lab, bringing down moral greatly, causing unnecessary strain and stress on others. This is most often not dealt with even with visits to HR and some of these people have even been instead, promoted!! Free to continue their toxic behaviors at an even higher level and drive off great employees. Upper management keeps their blinders on to this and it KILLS this company, causing a revolving door of employees. The no vacation pay and very very minimal PTO is extremely poor.
