Pros

If things are going as they should be, this NGO can be very good place to work at, you can have the opportunity to expand your network and be exposed to very interesting community

Cons

1. Salary: Salaries are not equivalent to the employee's profile, and they say they can't afford more than that because they are NGO although they receive very well funds from very reputable entities and associations "it seems those funds are spent in the wrong channels" 2. HR: there is no real hierarchy, all employees are in flat level under the CEO, although you may seem there is hierarchy but when things are in action, the CEO is giving all the orders with no tiny respect to the managerial level like COO, CMO ... etc 3. Organization: Believe it or not, it is 2016 and yet the company responsible for leading the entrepreneurs in Egypt are doing everything MANUALLY .. yes Manually !! They have no system, no clear work flow for the projects for all employees, everything is in the hand of the CEO 4. Job Duties: They disregard your title and ask you to do anything you can. if you asked to do just one job to avoid being distracted you will be accused of being lazy and incapable and not fit for the position and always making fun of you ! No appreciation at all ! 5. Work Environment: Everything is a mystery there, you are not given all the information, and you are not allowed to ask for information, yet you're being treated like a stupid and unqualified person for making one mistake, We're not allowed to work in teams. We're not allowed to talk to certain people, we were given explicit orders not to. 6. Labor Rights: You can easily get fired for no apparent reason, I was fired after 9 working days, yes I said 9 days despite I am not a fresh grad. or junior, I am a person of more than 8 years experience in Project/Operations Management and held very respectful position in large companies and NGOs, yet the CEO saw after just 9 days that I am not suitable for the managerial position I had in this falling down company, it is very normal to witness more than 6 or 8 people leaving the place in 1 month (average employment duration 3 weeks) ! 7. CEO: She is a very moody person, she's not who she appears to be in the interviews or events. she can very nice and then be very evil the next day. she'd treat you in the most humiliating way. She has serious issues with trust, and she is not a leader or a manager, she lacks any concepts of leadership or management, she can agree with you on something and you can build whole plan on that and yet in the next day she tells you the opposite thing and if you oppose her opinion, she accuse you of laziness and not paying attention to her ! She is always criticizing and making fun of people working for her.

Pros

Great potential, good networking with people in the career, meeting different people from different backgrounds. The COO is a great leader.

Cons

Bad salaries they don't have a fixed budget for salaries, you get what you "expect", while telling you that they're an NGO and they can't afford to pay like any normal company. They can pay different people with same titles differently just because others "expected" more. When you ask for a raise because the nature of your work turned out to be more than you expected they actually ask you to prove that you deserve more. I'm talking about an intern salary for a senior. They disregard your title and ask you to do anything you can, I was filling 6 peoples' jobs and was expected to excel at them. When I asked to do just one job to avoid being distracted I was accused of being lazy and incapable. And then they gave one of those jobs to new person without asking me for a handover, and they actually helped that person unlike me, it was like "show us what you got" and when I did no one communicated, if it was good or bad or if I done something wrong, they didn't even give me another chance. They just went passive aggressive, and silently judged me. Everything is a mystery there, you are not given all the information, yet you're being treated like a stupid and unqualified person for making one mistake. The language is very condescending and aggressive, I had panic attack more than one time during my 2 months period working at the office. I was panicking every time my senior tried to talk to me, it was a very alarming work environment. I saw very hardworking people being fired for no apparent reason, maybe they talked about things "they were not allowed to talk about". We're not allowed to work in teams, yes not allowed. We're not allowed to talk to certain people, we were given explicit orders not to. I was given a lecture for the way I looked, they told me I wasn't passionate enough, even though everyone can see me jumping all over the place and people actually tell me that it's very evident that I love my job for the first time in my life. I was told that I should do something about "looking" tired that it feels that I am "miserable". The thing they didn't know that I juggled my personal life in order to be able to excel at the job that I wasn't being appreciated for. I looked tired cause I got less sleep when I worked there than I ever got in my entire life. but they want you to look fresh and do your job in the way they expect, not the way you can. The employer is a very moody person, she's not who she appears to be. she can very nice and then be very evil the next day. she'd treat you in the most humiliating way just cause she had a bad day. she's very smart and she knows how to press people's buttons. I consider that a witchcraft if you ask me.
