Hi there, thanks for your insight! You are correct, we run payroll for the previous pay period, and we pay semi-monthly (2x/month) so there is a delay in getting your first paycheck as is the case with any new job.
As you mentioned, our pay periods run from 1st-15th, and 16th-last day of the month, and our pay dates match up with our pay periods (15th and last day of the month). In order for us to be able to run payroll, we need to wait till the pay period is over in order to run it. So once the period of 1-15 is over, on day 16 we start working on payroll and run it before pay date of the last day of the month. Payroll usually takes about 4 days to process, which is the case in any organization, since the payroll company needs to debit the employer, and then wire the money individually to all the accounts of our employees. That process is controlled by the Federal Reserve, and impacts all businesses. Aside from the money transfer taking some time, we also need time to ensure all timesheets are submitted by therapists, all mileage and drive time is properly documented, and that the timesheets properly reflect the work that was done (e.g. was the session cut short, and does the timesheet reflect that). All this takes time for us to do, which is why we aren't able to run payroll on the 16th for a pay period that ends the day prior.
Our pay dates and pay schedules are available for staff to see in our payroll provider, Gusto, and we also cover this in New Hire Orientation.
Hope this helps provide some context and clarify the delay in pay.
All the best!
