Pros

Colleagues in the sales team were nice.

Cons

1. Haphazard Decision-Making: The leadership at AirDNA often made decisions without a clear strategy or consideration of the long-term impact. Changes in direction were frequent and poorly communicated, leaving teams confused and scrambling to adapt. This lack of planning and foresight created an unstable work environment and hindered our ability to achieve consistent progress. 2. Poor Management: The management team at AirDNA lacked the skills and experience needed to effectively lead and support their teams. Managers often seemed out of touch with the day-to-day challenges faced by employees, and there was a noticeable absence of constructive feedback or professional development opportunities. This disconnect led to low morale and frustration among staff members. 3. Hire to Fire Culture: AirDNA has a disturbing pattern of hiring employees only to let them go shortly after. This "hire to fire" culture created a sense of job insecurity and discouraged employees from fully committing to their roles. The constant turnover not only disrupted workflow but also made it difficult to build cohesive teams and foster a collaborative work environment. 4. Lack of Investment in the Product: Despite the company's focus on providing data and analytics for the short-term rental market, there was a noticeable lack of investment in improving and innovating the product. Many of the tools and features were outdated, and customer feedback was often ignored. This neglect not only frustrated employees who wanted to take pride in their work but also disappointed clients who relied on our product Overall, my time at AirDNA was marked by instability, poor leadership, and a lack of support for both employees and the product.

Pros

I'm here to spread awareness at how awful a company AirDNA is. Don't trust the overly positive reviews that were probably written by an HR person to try to attract talent. Those reviews are both from Barcelona anyway. The CEO and bulk of the company work in Denver, and it's a terrible place to work. It should be apparent that someone is asking employees to post these overly positive reviews since they're having so much trouble finding hires. They've had the same engineering jobs posted for about 4 months, they just refresh it so it doesn't look like they're struggling to find people.

Cons

I'm resubmitting this review because I noticed they just posted a Product Designer position and I want to warn any potential candidate to not waste your time and to look elsewhere. They only yesterday posted a listing looking for a designer 4 months after firing me. I assume a chunk of design work has built up. Be aware that they will have you design a piece of their product and then dispose of you once it's been completed and without warning because "they don't like your designs." That's what they did to me. I wasn't given any warning about my performance and was let go the same week the new feature launched that I had been working on since starting there. The exact reason for letting me go was "they didn't like my designs" and yet 4 days previous, they just went to market with my designs. This was also 3 weeks before Christmas. No companies were looking to hire until the start of the new year, but that didn't matter to them. When I brought this up to management, the exact quote they said was "it's never a good time." No severance. No warning. No care. They're shady, I suggest to look elsewhere. This is a terrible startup who screw over their employees and don't care about anything except to sell their rickety business. TOXIC environment. Management is walking cancer, and the whole office feels it. They'll tell you anything to get you on board with talks of a “great culture” and “fun work environment” and then pull a bait and switch. It’s a terrible frat culture, and definitely not a fun environment. It started to feel more like a prison. They have no problems disposing of you once they get what they want from you. They've been looking for an Engineering Manager for about 4 months now with no luck. Makes me think people can see what this company really is and want nothing to do with it. They started having “culture meetings” that were really just a round about way to tell us to work harder and longer hours so they can reach a point to sell the business faster. The CEO, Scott Shatford, even mentioned in a “culture meeting” how he didn’t like the coffee machine because it meant people weren’t working, they were making coffee. There is no such thing as a sick day or vacation away from work. You’re still expected to work during these times. Management will ask “where are we at” with items while you’re marked out of office on the calendar, expecting them to be finished while you’re out. Scott Shatford doesn’t like letting his employees work remote because he doesn’t trust them. Another thing Scott Shatford said in a culture meeting was that “snow and cold temperatures is not a reason to work from home” and that we were still expected to come in. Scott Shatford spends his days playing ping pong and making sexist remarks that go unchecked by anyone of authority to say something. He doesn't care about anyone but himself and his money. This company is by far the worst place I've ever worked. Do yourself a favor, and don't work here.

Pros

The amount of data AirDNA has about the vacation rental market is amazing. I really enjoyed working with the company's data to put together high quality sales and marketing materials. If you're a data geek, there's a lot to like at AirDNA (at least in terms of the product). I was also lucky enough to have an amazing manager who taught me a lot, always had my back, and was able to act as a buffer between me and the CEO.

Cons

The culture is pretty bad, which is a direct result of the CEO's bizarre and childish management style. During my time at AirDNA, I experienced multiple instances of the CEO telling me one thing, then turning around and telling my boss a completely different story. Leadership is lacking. New features and projects are prioritized because of how the CEO feels during a given week/day/hour, rather than because of what makes sense from a product and engineering standpoint. The overall team is great and very friendly, but the CEO is clearly most comfortable working with men who want to play ping pong and ski. This directly affects the makeup of the team and the company's culture. If you value a diverse environment, AirDNA isn't a good fit for you. Also, no matter wha anyone tells you during the hiring process, you cannot consistently expect to work from home. The CEO assumes that anyone who isn't physically in the office isn't working.
