    Lots of freedom to control the events and work with the client directly

    Cons

    Inspectors from the client were not technical or had no concept of a partnership

    My manager was exceptional.

    Large Organisation with lots of different projects to get involved in. Good training and development opportunities for Grads.

    Graduate rotations are not well organised.

      Pros

      - Team culture - Trusted to work with senior clients from and early stage - 6 monthly "talent review" - Starting to get onto prominent supplier frameworks with major UK infrastructure companies across Rail, Defence, Aviation and Utilities

      Cons

      - Interface with the wider Amey group who don't understand the consultancy business model - No performance/quality related bonuses until you become a director - It can be difficult to make your aspirations heard. If you're not willing to put your head above the parapet to get the work you feel passionate about you are unlikely to become involved in it.

      Advice to Management

      Don't forget where StratCon came from. This team was built up through brilliant individuals coming together as a team to deliver excellent value to clients often on quick turnarounds. If people in the team wanted to work in a process-driven, Big 4 environment they would go and get a job there. This team has always been about great people enjoying what they do! Recently the focus has shifted way too much on turning them...

      Pros

      Some good colleagues all working hard to overcome problems caused by lack of resource and poor management.

      Cons

      Terrible management, awful HR, bullying behaviours demonstrated by some senior management and HR, under-resourced, inefficient, awful culture, consistent failure to follow their own policies and procedures - very uncertain future.

      Advice to Management

      The senior team need to wake up and see what is happening out in the field. The company has good policies but all too often they aren't followed - it's a postcode lottery!

      Pros

      Depending on your manager, it can be very supportive and you can have the chance to get involved in different projects BUT only if you have a supportive manager - this is not across the board. Accreditations are often funded, which is great. Colleagues tend to be really nice and helpful.

      Cons

      Lots of red tape to get through for anything. Management aren't appreciative of staff they see at a low level and you have to be "in" with the right people to get any recognition, very cliquey. Lots of teams aren't appreciated and changes are rife here. Very limited room for progression and pay very low.
