Pros

In theory the "mission" is to help those with mental health disorders (in reality the firm just cares about money and its stock price). Some great/intelligent colleagues who are sometimes undervalued.

Cons

An incredibly disorganised company, lots of virtue signalling externally but treats staff very poorly, many colleagues burn out or have breakdowns, below market compensation.

Hi there, I was very sorry to hear that you feel this way about your time at atai. I would really encourage you to speak to your line manager and/or HR lead to share this feedback and your individual experience. Mental health is a priority for us - for our business and our people. If that doesn't fit with your experience, it’s important we know so we can address this. We recognize that the pace of any start-up can be intense and we work to actively manage this. I hope you shared your views in our recent staff survey (which you'll have seen scored 85% positive engagement, 13 points above the industry standard). Compensation at atai is benchmarked against the external market and reviewed annually in order to remain competitive. I hope you're taking advantage of our well-being initiatives. I’m sure you joined atai because, like all of us, you care about mental health. This should, of course, include your own and your colleagues. Please let us know how we can support you and help you be part of the solution.  Anna (VP of People & Culture)

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that your experience isn't as positive as we would like it to be. We pride ourselves on being a transparent organization where questions are encouraged at every level, so it's unfortunate to hear that this has not been your experience. If you are still a current employee, I strongly encourage you to get in touch with either your manager or me directly to discuss your concerns and be part of the solution.  Anna (VP of People & Culture)

Pros

- People I've met have all joined for purpose over profits and very open with their own personal motivations including many with their own past brushes with mental health challenges - Fascinating pipeline of compounds with real potential to change the future of mental health care - Great flexibility on working even as the pandemic lessons - trusts people to work hard and not be micromanaged - Really dynamic vibe and collaborative culture

Cons

- Working hours can be long and work intensive at times, as frankly with any small company in hypergrowth, especially when juggling teams across multiple timezones. But worth acknowledging that management recognises this and is driving increased initiatives to encourage down time, flexible working, as well as wellbeing initiatives like mindfulness and yoga - keen to practice what it preaches in terms of mental health, internally as well as externally. Also actively hiring to better pace workloads across individuals and teams so this should make a huge difference through the year
