Pros

Amazon shares Looks good on the CV People in general are nice which is the only reason I wouldn't give 1*

Cons

Don't be fooled by stuff like free food, table tennis or even flexible working because the working culture in general stinks. Senior management routinely knock back new ideas and thinking. They are happy to rest on their laurels. People management is dire, with a lot of vague or conflicting feedback and no clarity of direction. There's a very prominent core clique heavily invested in self-congratulatory nonsense and telling peoplehow amazing they are. If you talk the talk and fall in with this group, you are far more likely to be successful than if you actually get your job done. It's all politics and playing games. Staff turnover has been very high for quite a while considering there's barely 100 people. I will be leaving at the earliest opportunity.

Toxic culture, appalling leadership

Pros

Generous compensation and RSUs Some amazing passionate and talented people

Cons

Awful work environment largely due to very poor senior leadership setting an example of bad behaviours as acceptable. Lacking innovation and the business is at risk of becoming obsolete if not addressed quickly. Professes to be customer obsessed but the only real obsession is dollars which drive every decision, even those at the detriment of customers. Calls itself a tech company but really all it does (and knows how to do) is sell audiobooks. Management do not act with integrity, communication is shockingly bad. Employees are not valued or treated with respect, lots of backstabbing and politics.

Bitterly disappointing

Pros

Kitchen is well stocked Some colleagues became good friends

Cons

Day one, no introduction to others other than the staff sat directly next to me and unable to login to the computers. It was also a while before I could access the areas I needed to do my job properly. Over time I saw the exact same issue with a number of new employees. The training was poor and unstructured. The high staff turnover made the workplace a depressing environment to work in. Staff were cut just like that, no comment made. Staff were very aware of the high turnover. HR hugely exaggerated the opportunity and training, I turned down two higher paid roles thinking this would be a better fit.
