Mental Abuse

Pros

Firm lunch is the only pro for this law firm. And some of the attorneys and staff were nice. The rest, not at all.

Cons

Mentally abusive attorneys and management, whom love to gaslight, scream, belittle, and at some points became physical (throwing stuff at support staff). Also, a place where anyone (including staff) throws employees under the bus, especially the good, dedicated ones.

Pros

There are no good reasons to work at Barton.

Cons

The pay is horrible. There is no management- who they consider management are not. Worse than all of that, the attorneys and "management" treat support staff horribly. No one is appreciated. You're expected to work overtime and don't even get thanked for it. The only feedback you're given is negative feedback. Worst of all, there are absolutely no windows anywhere in sight which is asking for depression. It is such an unhealthy work environment. Imagine being underpaid, mistreated and not even seeing the light of day for 8 hours (or more) every single day....

Just don’t

Pros

Literally none this place is a nightmare

Cons

Zero room for advancement (you’ll be doing legal research your entire career so if you want to feel like a glorified intern this is the place for you), cruel and inconsiderate partners who do not care about your well-being, when criticism is given it’s always negative and comes way too late, partners are remote/hybrid but associates have to be on-site 5 days and, naturally, the partners do not come in, there are about 6 associates for 30+ partners so you are brought into cases and then kicked out (never get to see the case resolve) once your research is done. There is no culture and the environment is cold and sterile. It is clear that associates are disposable as turnover is extremely high.
