Pros

• Great team of line pilots / instructors. • Onsite maintenance team with quick turnarounds. • Generally speaking they operate a sound fleet.

Cons

• Among General Aviation, Basair have a poor reputation that is ultimately deserved as a result of poor management choices and appointments. • It has been evident that upgrades are primarily based on favouritism rather than ability and there appears to be an “inner circle” of instructors who are favoured over others. • Facilities are outdated and no investment is made to keep up with local competition. • Content that is taught is outdated and does not follow the Part61 MOS, particularly for theory courses. • CEO is aggressive is his management style, particularly when providing feedback. He has also been known to regularly call students and staff outside work hours and abuse them over the phone. • Lack of HR leads to a very unprofessional and poorly designed induction and onboarding process where new staff are not well equipped to fulfil their roles. This goes for pilots and administration staff.

Hung out to dry

Pros

Having the opportunity to help students achieve there goals and see them grow/develop skills.

Cons

Individuals who stand up and try to make a difference or make a mistake are either left completely out the picture or made redundant. Syllabus design is so poor that they expect it the irrational expectations of the instructors to complete it in a give time period regardless of the weather. Instead of hiring new people to fill roles they just require the instructors to complete those task on top of there already busy schedules.
