Pros

The job is pretty straightforward to learn, and most of the customers here are friendly and easygoing—except during the holiday season, though you do get extra pay for that. The team is helpful when training, but as a keyholder, you’ll be opening and closing the store on your own. It’s a good idea to take notes on key tasks and reports since there won’t always be someone around to guide you. One of the perks of the role is getting to learn about different alcoholic beverages, including high-end selections. You’ll also gain experience with store management tasks like receiving inventory and merchandising. As a keyholder, you’ll have the chance to work with vendors on seasonal displays, update pricing, print and set up promotional signage, and organize store sections as you see fit. It’s a solid opportunity to build skills while working independently.

Cons

I was scheduled to Clopen (close and open the next day) frequently. During my time working here, we experienced a robbery by a tall man wearing a mask and wielding a hammer. A case of high-value bottles, including one worth $5,000, is positioned directly in front of the cashier area and near the entrance—making it an easy target for thieves. BevMo is a risky workplace, especially since management does not invest in security due to budget issues (the store is not profitable). When I worked there, employees were expected to follow suspected thieves around the store and stand right next to them—a policy that put staff in unnecessary danger. This is not a safe work environment.

Pros

In the store I worked in, the management was very friendly, while still maintaining professionalism. Cannot stress enough how awesome Mike Senter and Tama Hugo are. Two of the coolest managers I have ever had.

Cons

When the management changed morale saw a clear decline. Employee discount was on the smaller side at 10%. The biggest problem was trying to get full time. They would keep you around 35 hours a week and occasionally would break 40 by covering for people, but not often enough to qualify for full time.

Long hours if you work at a GoPuff location. Not enough employees leads to being overworked and stressed.

Pros

Flexible hours, fun coworkers, occasionally have wine tastings

Cons

• inconsistent/unequal pay with NO REASON •corporate tried to stop us asking for equal pay by giving us stock in the company •constantly overworked •don’t bother reporting harassment because nobody cares and nothing will happen besides your own name getting dragged through the mud and the guilty party walking free from any consequence •terrible communication to and from management •incredibly toxic work environment •new hires aren’t required to be trained and yet make way more than skilled employees •management will lie to your face about your pay/sick pay/PTO2/availability/etc •you’ll get constantly called in outside of your availability because management always criminally understaffs (ex. 1 employee for 8hrs with no break/lunch coverage) •no possible chance for promotion and management will drag their feet about giving well deserved raises before just taking them away without any reason •you’ll get hired on above minimum wage but if you stay over a year, it’ll get dropped down to exactly the minimum •management retaliates against employees for using sick pay or scheduling time off
