Pros

The opportunity to publish in Journals. Opportunity to work and live in New Delhi, India The chance to gain research experience (albeit with little guidance) Gaining great contacts in the world of AMR research. Meeting wonderful staff - making great friends.

Cons

There is a serious lack of communication between the Delhi and DC offices, which can be very demotivating. There is very little support or advice offered for RAs, making for a very inefficient and frustrating working environment. There is no opportunity for growth within the organization. RAs are seen as dispensable by the organization and tend to stay no longer than one year. Witnessing the treatment of staff by senior management was disturbing. Consistent management absence from staff meetings and calls arranged by management is a classic example of the ongoing behaviour that is deemed as acceptable by CDDEP.

Pros

Opportunity to co-author papers Friendly co-workers in the DC office

Cons

Executive director is very difficult to work with, inattentive to employees and projects, and does not care about employees' opinions or interests Low salary (not competitive with similar organizations), inadequate benefits Very few opportunities for professional development RA work is inconsistent because there are not many funded projects Very little support for RAs in the Delhi office RAs spend a lot of time on administrative work for grant proposals

Pros

Independence and ability to take a lead role in research even at entry level positions. Interesting projects and great connections with international researchers and leading organizations.

Cons

There is next to no management or support for researchers. There is a lot of pressure from leadership to produce work but no guidance, support or oversight of quality. There is limited internal communication and demands are often made last minute and plans change frequently with little to no notice. The leadership of the organization does not seem to care about staff retention, development, or happiness - morale is low and turnover is extremely high. Pay and benefits at entry level are extremely low compared to similar organizations.
