      Pros

      Beautiful building, access to good books, mostly wonderful and interesting coworkers. There has been a new director hired since I left, so the culture may have changed.

      Cons

      Employee morale is given lip service, but never really attended to. Some departments never have meetings that include everyone. I went years without receiving a performance evaluation. In order to advance, you have to apply for a higher open position, which is rare.

      Pros

      Beautiful building. Large collection. Active library with plenty going on. Breaks are appropriately given out.

      Cons

      Employees who commute must pay to park. There is a very strict hierarchical structure, even those who are at professional levels don't always get treated as such, especially if they're new. Very little room to plan or implement programming period. they are very set in their ways. Professional MLS librarians are stuck shelving for hours and hours.

      Great colleagues and really lovely patrons. Incredible values - really one of the best parts of working there.

      Cons

      Very strict hierarchical structure. Very little room to plan or implement programming if you're not in a senior position.
