Pros

The people have good personalities and are friendly

Cons

1. They got new HR that spent way too much time trying to convince us they’re totally different from the old HR , but they feel the same, just different faces and more emails 2. Old fashioned approach in terms of career trajectory, promotions…one of the many reasons they go on about wanting to be a global leader but will never become one. Global leaders in biotech have far moved past this model. 3. My manager was trash and I’m pretty sure just wanted someone to do all the work while he went on about being too busy so he could chat all day. The one thing I asked at my interview was if results from my own experiments would be communicated with me instead of above my head, and they promised they’re a small company who engages everyone…that was not my experience at all. My manager repeatedly cut me out of discussions of my own results and talked about them with everyone but me and then would get mad at me for not seeming engaged and said something dismissive like “well you could just look them up yourself” even though I did and my point was not that I didn’t know the results but why can’t I be included in the discussion of them. From day 1, I never felt engaged and as a result really couldn’t have cared less about the work because I was just a pair of hands to my manager. Maybe I’ve been lucky to have had only outstanding managers before, but i really can’t comprehend how mine got promoted to one.

Pros

Nice People Overall, very genuine

Cons

The HR department fired me within three weeks when they found out I was pregnant, and because I couldn't lift heavy boxes. (I have a back injury). Unclear hours, (one hour unpaid lunch break ). Human Resources actually terminated me without reasonable cause, and in some cases, lied about things I did which weren't true. I spoke to an employment lawyer about it, and we're filing a claim NYC Commission on Human Rights, and pursuing a lawsuit. Good company vision, but horrible Human Resources and general management.

Pros

- You will be able to aquire "gene therapy" experience and be marketable for more equipped companies. - Cellectis is literally handing out promotions since there is barely anyone left.

Cons

- Ridiculously unseasoned staff. It is evident that the majority of hires were all friendly referrals and actual proper recruiting was never done. People lack industry experience. - I believe this is a pro, but extremely high turnover. Nearly all Directors left in the span of 1-2 months. Obviously unhappy with leadership, including site head leadership. Although, they did extremely sub-par work before leaving which could be a factor to why they left. To not have to sleep in the bed you made (figuratively). - Last but definitely not least, total lack of transparency. You will be targeted and blamed for the companies lack of foundation or for lack of failed leadership. If your management is not leading you properly, unknown to you, you will be on the chopping block.
