A Stressful Career Dead-End

Pros

Catered days including Thai Thursdays, on-site gym, nice office, coworkers in Tech were wonderful

Cons

Some account managers are very results-driven and lack empathy, care or in some cases basic human decency, during busy periods it can be an oppressive and unpleasant place to work. No managerial support whatsoever if you have a conflict with someone, expect to be gaslit and nitpicked. Whatever your issue, it's always your fault somehow. No career progression if you're a member of tech but, outside of tech, promotions are handed out like candy. You won't be doing much modern development, you'll be mostly working on tech that was in use a decade or so ago (which wasn't the way it was sold to me). Definite favouritism in how certain employees are treated.

Disappointing.. Smoke and mirrors

Pros

Free breakfasts and quite a few buffet lunches, friendly people, company laptop & phone (although old and slow models), nice location being a short stroll from all the shops in Alresford (shame they are moving to the middle of nowhere in Ropley really)

Cons

Simply not as good as they think they are - their high attrition rate backs up that people aren't as happy as they'd have you believe. They sell the company as a buzzy lively culture, but it's far from it. The management are old-school and blinkered, they want to create a modern culture but are still using so many outdated corporate practices that don't gel with this ideology. The benefits are also smoke and mirrors.. working from home and flexible working, monthly BBQs and social events are all advertised but I can't say any of these happened regularly. Flexible working is just a slightly earlier finish on a Friday, and not what it's sold as! Don't be fooled by fun sounding 'benefits' like 'Cake Tuesdays' either; just an excuse to have a company wide meeting with a pastry every fortnight where they put people on the spot. You also aren't allowed half-days which is the most bizarre company policy I've heard. Parking is a nightmare, but then it is at most offices. I'd also strongly agree with the other reviews here that training and support seems non-existent other than qualifications which only certain people in the business can do, solely to make the company look good. There is a strong blame-culture I witnessed, quick to find faults and put down people's opinions. Very pressured, irritable and fear-inducing management style with a lot of clear favouritism and back stabbing.

We are sorry that this employee found their short time at Clevertouch did not meet his expectations. We strive to make this a stimulating, exciting place to work where skills learned will benefit both the business and the individual throughout their career wherever it takes them. In return a level of motivation and enthusiasm from employees is much appreciated. We wish this former employee well in whatever they choose to do next.

Pros

I enjoyed working with some of the people there

Cons

There is no training plan. I had to teach myself or beg someone to show me something. I applied for a Web Developer role, I spent the most of my time testing emails. Placement students get minimum wage and asked to work really hard. The office is in the middle of nowhere with limited parking. They will soon be moving to a new office in a more obscure location with even less parking. Pay no good and bonuses are fictional. Some people could get away with murder and others are expendable.
