Pros

- 401K contribution - remote work option

Cons

- Management is not responsive to concerns of junior staff. - Very poor understanding of equity as it relates to the mission and internal practices. - White mediocrity; White dominant culture. Culture of urgency means people are unwilling to redistribute work and do not respect boundaries. Experienced many "micro" aggressions here - more than any other organization I have worked for. People have also said explicitly racist things without any consequences. - Hard to tell how impactful the work is beyond getting more $ to climate change mitigation. - Feedback is discouraged; projects that are train wrecks continue because people are unwilling to receive feedback and correct course. This seems tied to a lack of humility and inflated sense of self importance. - Internal decision making is unclear (likely intentionally so). There are no internal structures or processes to escalate alternative ideas. - No team culture; very individualistic. Sink or swim.

ClimateWorks Foundation Response

First, my apologies for the delayed response to your feedback. To prevent delays in the future, we have set up our Glassdoor account to send us notifications when new reviews are added. We are very sorry to hear about your experience at ClimateWorks Foundation. We appreciate all of our employees (both current and former) and value their feedback. Having a positive work environment and culture is of great importance to us and I am sorry that we failed to meet your expectations. You raised a number of points in your review. Regarding issues of equity, we have been diligently working to center DEI/JEDI in our culture over the past few years, including investing in training, systems, and processes to ensure all staff are treated equitably. We also recently hired a new Chief of Equity, Justice, and Culture who will help us continue this important work. I would appreciate the opportunity to listen and learn more about your experiences so that we can work towards making improvements. Please feel free to reach out to me directly or anyone from our JEDI team, to discuss your concerns. We wish you all the best. Best regards, Negar

Pros

Lots of opportunity for the self motivated. Work on important issue and interact with wide range or partners and smart colleagues. Learn a lot, think about a global issue from a systemic perspective.

Cons

Challenging mission that is hard to measure or see progress against. Disconnected from the more on-the-ground work. Requires a lot of self-motivation to see things through, and to resist urge to be pulled in too many different directions.
