Company attitude is awful

Pros

Company has grown from a small to medium sized company which is great.

Cons

Senior staff who performed multiple roles don't want to relinquish control and allow new staff to do their job. Horrific attitude from senior management - they actually ridicule staff on calls and openly say staff morale is not paramount to the company progression. Some good engineers, but staff are so over worked and senior management don't care. Engineers work evenings and weekends to try and reduce the workload (unpaid); senior management know and don't care - horrifying. Staff openly say they're not happy; they come in, do a job and go home, and are looking for other jobs. Senior management know this and don't care.

Hi there, we appreciate your feedback but are concerned as this does not match our other feedback on the Glassdoor platform, or our internal Employee Engagement surveys which we run at regular intervals. Please reach out to HR as we would really appreciate to hear more from you on your views as there is a lot to respond to in your feedback. In terms of the comments regarding “staff morale not being paramount to company progression”, we do not believe that any representative of Codec would feel this way. Staff morale is something that is taken very seriously at Codec, with regular employee engagement initiatives, market salary reviews, bonuses, an active sports and social club, generous benefits, and more that are run throughout the year. Staff morale is measured on a regular basis using formal and informal data collection methods, and appropriate actions rolled out as needed. We were so happy with our 15 point increase on our employee NPS this year which really reflects our attrition rates and positive morale in Codec. However all feedback appreciated and if you are willing to we would be very happy to understand how you feel we can improve.

Pros

Good people in tech, as usual

Cons

Sinking ship. We had it good when we were the only game in Ireland. Now we are losing to not only the big international players but locals as well. Depending on where you work they will sack you with a week's notice if they dont have use for you. The business model is to get junior techs to upskill by getting them to perform the tasks of a senior. Then codec will charge a company at the rate of a senior consultant but never pay the junior to the value of their work. Overtime is always prioritised over personal welfare. There's only about 3 people in tech that have stable jobs. If they go the whole company will collapse. So many top people have gone. Morale and atmosphere is rock bottom. We won all these awards from Microsoft, Ceo tells us we are growing, but there was no pay rise or bonuses to anyone I know on the tech side. The level of scheming and backstabbing is incredible. No sense of teamwork or solidarity. Definitely no job security.

Short-Term, Operative Management Over Long-Term Planning

Pros

There’s a wealth of knowledge and expertise available, making it an excellent environment for learning.

Cons

The Senior Leadership Team appears disconnected from employees, showing limited interest or empathy toward their well-being and growth. Career progression is lacking, with few clear pathways for advancement, leaving employees with limited development opportunities. The primary focus is on "chargeability" as the sole metric of success, which is monitored daily. Decisions often hinge solely on these metrics, sometimes without consideration for context or long-term impact. Similar concerns have been raised for at least five years, yet little progress has been made to address these issues, suggesting a resistance or lack of commitment to meaningful change.
