Pros

-direct supervisors/program managers are amazing and care about staff. -contract follows the school year, convenient with small children at home. -opportunities to grow: trainings, taking on new roles such as providing clinical supervision, running consultation groups. -opportunity to work with preferred age range.

Cons

-pay is below market rate in the area, even for 10 month school based contract -all pay increases (licensure increase) are less than other therapists despite HR telling multiple pre-licensed staff they would get the full 5k increase after licensure. -don’t care about retaining good therapists, would rather pay less for new therapists with no experience. -HR is a joke. -Fires amazing clinical director who actually supports and advocates for school based programs. -HR and upper management tries to change our pay to only get paid during the school year, not spread out over 12 months because it would be easier for them even though it would negatively impact many therapists and lead to major turnover.

Pros

-I like my supervisor -consistent pay is nice compared to other therapy jobs who pay based on the hours -good community with vast knowledge of the system and access to good resources -scheduling is semi-flexible, good PTO

Cons

-Pay way below average for Colorado with no wiggle room -Upper management doesn't seem care about their therapists. They burn us out and spit us out when we can't take any more -Minimum of 50 clients on caseloads across the company -when the system switched/medicaid changed, they freaked out and put a TON of extra work on clinicians -There's loads of "cover the company's butt" paperwork for clients and clinicians alike -There is no interest in innovation, only in bottom lines

Thank you for sharing your experience. We acknowledge the challenges you've described and understand how they can impact both the well-being of our team members and the quality of care we provide. While some factors, like changes in Medicaid requirements, are beyond our control, we recognize the additional burdens these shifts can place on clinicians and are working to streamline processes wherever possible. We strive to support our team while balancing the demands of community mental health, and we are actively evaluating ways to address caseloads, improve clinician support, and advocate for better compensation within the constraints of our funding structure. We truly value your perspective as part of the community we aim to serve. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
