Pros

It's a relatively easy job. There's different shifts: 2pm-10pm, 4:30pm-12:30am, 12:30am-8:30am. If you work a day shift you pick up the kids from school and take them back to the house, prepare dinner and have them do their chores and go to bed. Overnight shifts basically make sure the kids dont runaway. Easy to get a job there.

Cons

You are required to work graveyard. When you work a graveyard shift YOU DO NOT GET PAID ADDITIONAL PAY. You are forced to work a 16 hour shift 4:30pm to 8:30am. and you do not get overtime!!! I do not know how this is legal. They say "the hours are factored into your weekly 40 hours". Some of the kids are violent. I have heard plenty of stories of female staff being hurt by clients. One even stabbed by a fork. Keep in mind if the clients are in physical altercations you have to break it up. Company only cares about the money they get for housing the kids.

Pros

the job really does provide Great pay, and great hours, and the message is great as well. my coworkers and clients amazing to work with but the houses were severely understaffed

Cons

nights/overnights are from 2pm to 6am the next day, scheduling is not done well, and the company's HQ does not put an emphasis on worker safety. My manager was not interested in teaching me how the house is ran, every house has its own system in place on how to run procedures and HQ doesnt seem to mind. back to the issue with my ex manager, on my first day on the job i was tasked with taking 5 clients on a trip by myself...i had no training, i had no rapport with the clients, nor did i even know their names but yet i was tasked to take 5 teenagers on a trip..i understand that the house was understaffed but letting the rookie take 5 teenage boys with history of mental issues and/or convictions for crimes (murder/abuse/drugs) on a trip by himself without any real training is a recipe for disaster/

Pros

Job Fulfillment, Decent benefits, most employees are good, difficult to be laid off, job security

Cons

Low pay, low promotion trajectory, some employees try to get you fired over doing your job, inconsistent hours, high employee turnover (quitting), bad employees do not get fired, requires bachelors degree for low pay. Violent kids. Corporate gets more perks and benefits for less work. No weekends. Works 16 hour shifts with no compensation or OT. Cant sleep on overnights even with other staff spiting it up (Other group homes allow this) Screws over long term employees by taking all sick time when they get sick on the job. Very cliquey, do not expect to fit in too well. Cannot get benefits until you have been with the company for a year, so do not get sick or pregnant during this time. Low vacation time. Difficult to call in sick with low staff.
