Pros

• The tips (people only stay, for the tips)

Cons

• I worked at The Prestwich location. I’ve never been so undermined, belittled, and disrespected by management/ a boss before. I was hired as a waitress, and was passively aggressively spoken to for not knowing how to use a barista coffee machine. Glared at, tutted at, and rudely addressed. I said I was more than happy to be taught, as I’d applied for a barista role at other companies many times before, but they usually want experienced people. I can’t get experience, if I’m not employed. This was ignored, I had to do it in my ‘own time’. • A tragic suicide happened unfortunately, right outside the doors of the restaurant. My boss and managers, actively removed and binned any flowers outside as it was a ‘bad look’ and turned mourners away - I was fired for having such negative feelings on this. • I was called into my bosses office, and told, again, aggressively, and just honestly uncalled for, that I needed change how I speak, change my smile. The list went on. (I was 23 at the time, he was a grown man - completely inappropriate) for saying ‘oh, I know’ to my manager teaching me something about the card machine. At this point they were clutching at straws to fire me. (They don’t like strong, opinionated women) • My boss also shouted at me, in front of customers, for not being able to open a wine bottle. Again, unfortunately I just hadn’t done this before. All I needed, was to be shown once. • This was just an absolutely crazy experience of a job, I found a job straight after this, again, waitressing. And I realised the problem was absolutely not me, I’m extremely talented, flexible to learn, and a good person.
