Dreadful unless being abused is your thing.

Pros

Helping those in community who are marginalized

Cons

Wages are super low unless you are a director. No employee development. Flat organization so the only promotion you will get is when you leave. Policies do not apply to all equally. The "mean girl" syndrome is rampant in the middle aged women at the top of the organization. Gaslighting by management is rampant. Also expect to be stereotyped based on your gender or race.

Pros

The organization does what it can, despite the normal funding limitations of a nonprofit. The culture is positive and encouraging.

Cons

They do a great job, considering the resources they have and the need they're trying to meet.
