Overworked and underappreciated but not the worst

Pros

I have worked for many different IT positions and some have been worse places. you can work from home a few times a year. Office bbq a few times too. Some techs get to take old equipment home. Monday to Friday is nice but with on call evenings/weekends. Pretty average pay.

Cons

Management doesn't trust employees. overloaded with work and then in trouble for not meeting deadlines or missing things. Need to log all of your time but only if you can bill a client for it. dont let you log time for learning/emails/answering phones/followup with tickets and then wonder whats not adding up. LOTS of turnover too so it gets very busy/stressful when short staffed. Management is unsimpathetic about that. CEO disconnected to challenges.

Pros

- You get to work with a lot of technologies at the service desk level. Your pretty much a junior systems and network admin considering the amount of exposure you get even as a level 1. Level 2 is a Systems Admin role and Level 3 is a senior systems admin/engineer - You get to deal with numerous clients and build a relationship - Compensated for obtaining certifications - Parties and free food every now and then

Cons

- Training is absolutely terrible. Consists of 3 weeks of watching online videos on how to use labtech and connectwise software. No hands on experience or familiarization with tools or clients from the beginning. Your literally left to fend for yourself when training is over even though you are working with a level 2 or level 3 on your team. It appears the senior staff on the team get irritated when you ask them for assistance. - Measured with metrics, but you are penalized if your active time is low even if the numbers match the same to other employees, They find reasons to penalize employees and the metrics
