Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's great that you have experienced variety in the work we do. In regards to pay, as a civil service employer, we are bound by limits imposed on Dstl by the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury. It is an on-going priority, however, to continue getting the best pay for our employees. Thank you again for the review.

Pros

Not a lot of positive things to say about Dstl these days. The organisation has slowly got worst in the last 5-7 years. Nowadays, it seems more concerned with social politics, virtue signalling, and positive discrimination, than anything remotely scientific.

Cons

Inexperienced managers. Low pay. An underlying, bullying culture (despite what they claim). Values people that talk themselves up. Poor quality projects masquerading as science / engineering. The wrong people get promoted. Managers that disappear for hours to spend time playing with their kids. Promotions are not based on your work or experience. An "every man for himself" culture. Poor IT infrastructure and kit. Penpushers / administrators pretending they are scientists. Frequent misuse of in-house social media message board. Management talk a lot but never deliver. Poor building structure promoting spread of CV-19. A wait of nearly 50 years to get your pension. A lot of unhappy workers (who become resentful and unhelpful). Managers that abuse their power. Lots of cliques (like a school playground). Jobsworths and brown-nosers.
