Good product, unstable company

Pros

-Great training and advanced sales tools -Close knit teams since the company is so small -Great employer benefits (PTO, health, etc.) -work from home

Cons

-company appears financially unstable and business operations are dictated by investors. grew their staff by 15-17% over the last year but then laid off the same amount from their workforce. -despite being a small company, there is a major lack of visibility with current state of business from execs. -lack of direction with how to grow the business especially in a saturated market. roles and target markets are not clearly defined and constantly changing stunting the momentum for any sales exec. -key senior leaders inexperienced in the industry much less showing any value or expertise in growing a small company or developing a viable go to market strategy.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback on DefenseStorm. As you highlight, our smaller size provides an environment where employees can roll up their sleeves and work together closely to make a meaningful difference. We work hard to support our people with the right tools and benefits. And based on the results of our annual employee engagement survey, we’re adding new programs this year to support them even more. Hopefully, you’re aware from updates on our website that we’ve started rolling out a new and highly differentiated positioning for DefenseStorm. With risk at its core, it is completely aligned with financial institutions and reinforces how DefenseStorm is radically different from other more traditional providers. In the past few months, the commercial side of our business has become tightly aligned and energized behind all this new work, which is playing out in the market. We’re committed to our “promising Sales team”, as you rightly call out, and that includes hiring a new head of Sales who is also dedicated to each individual’s success. As for leadership and business operations, we’re as transparent with employees as any company can be at our stage of development. We’re privileged to have a Board that brings tremendous industry experience and a commitment to the company’s long-term success, helping the leadership team make smarter and more informed decisions. The significant decision to let employees go was made with an incredible amount of diligence and thought. Like hundreds of other tech companies large and small, unforeseen changes in the capital markets forced DefenseStorm to pivot. While DefenseStorm was not the right fit for you, we wish you success in your future endeavors.

Pros

Good work life balance / flexibility, it’s unlimited PTO and you get all banking holidays off, it’s good health insurance, and you get your birthday off. They offer 401k, but no match

Cons

The people in charge at this company aren’t very smart. I’m not saying that in a nasty/personal way, they just don’t make great decisions. They lead with ego. Either hire people who have no idea what they’re doing OR they don’t listen to the people who do know what they’re doing. I’ve never worked for a company that gets in its own way so often and so proudly. C-level leaders at this company love to boast about the “journey of DefenseStorm” how “different” the product is and that it’s the only “built for banking” platform, as if that is such a monumental statement that saying the phase alone will get someone to sign a 3 year contract. Ego at the top is the detrimental factor. Leaders at this company love to toot their own horn, another strange occurrence I experienced often. Inflated results with a positive spin, always. They pass an audit and celebrate like they won the lottery. Or someone retires and they dedicate 30 minutes of an all company call to that individuals “fondest memories” at the company, like give me a break. After 10 years in business, they cannot figure out the sales process. Can’t figure out a repeatable process for selling their product… They reinvent the wheel over and over again and still, can’t nail it down. They tend to overcomplicate things in the most old school of ways, it’s kind of bizarre for a tech company to be so behind. I wouldn’t recommend working for this company if you are looking to have a voice or make an impact. If that doesn’t bother you, go for it!
