Pros

Nice office with pool table. Fair salary. Many friendly staff.

Cons

Quality issues resulting from the company's non-existant quality management. There is a QA team and the company is ISO certified, but only on paper, not in practice. First of all, the lead of the project management and operations team is an arrogant, egoistic, incompetent and insecure person who beats down colleagues who perform better than him because he feels threatened by them. During meetings, he speaks a lot about himself and his perceived accomplishments for a long time, but he gets nothing done. He makes the company lose a lot of money from high staff turnover, good staff leaving, not taking responsibility for his wrong decisions and blaming mistakes on others. The sales team must work closely with the project management team to manage projects and control costs, but this is not possible because the PMO lead does not like people who knows their work better. To every new staff joining the PMO team, he will instill the idea that the sales team are the ones who are to blame for all the troubles in the company. Eventually, all PMs and service engineers have this attitude and do not want to work with the sales team. Because of this, quality product, service and work life does not exist at Durapower. Secondly, KPIs set by the company for the project management and engineering teams are not effective or measurable. This is because of the company’s work process or rather, the lack of it. Service engineer in-house and on-site attendances are not recorded and verified by customer on service reports for example. Important and measurable service KPIs are not in use. Thirdly, there is no technical training provided as the PMO lead does not know how to organize or conduct one. New engineers are expected to read the manual and attend the job. Get it wrong and its on you. Job satisfaction as a project engineer or manager is rare and hard to achieve. Finally, the company expects you to pay for all expenses, like food, spares and materials for the job, transport and accommodation when on site. Reimbursement will be made to you in about a month or 2 after you've submitted your claim online. So sometimes you will need to pay your credit card bills before you receive your claim payment. If you are living pay check to pay check, be prepared to pay late fees on your credit card at your expense.
