Pros

- 6% match on 401k - good number of ptos with ability to carry over 10 unused ptos

Cons

- top heavy upper mgmt; you're just a number - little to non-existent enterprise project mnagement - outsourcing all of I/T - only directors and above are eligible for bonuses/incentive compensation - too many silos - company continues to lose money hand over fist with lowered credit ratings - no enterprise integration strategy (ACP) - heavily reliant on NYC contracts but yet they outsource NY jobs

WORST JOB I'VE EVER HAD!

Pros

Unfortunately, there are no real pros to working here outside of a few really talented, nice employees here and there.

Cons

I have never done a negative job review on glassdoor before, because in all of my previous positions, I have loved getting up and going to work and interacting with my boss, team and colleagues. But I had to do a negative one for EmblemHealth because people deserve to be warned. And while every job has its issues, please know that EmblemHealth's issues are on another level. The culture here is the worst I've ever seen - the sad part is, so many of the employees have been trapped in this culture for so long that they think it's normal. Employees are lazy and many of them are incompetent and unqualified. The ones that are talented don't get to actually put their good job skills to use. They have a horrible project management system called JetPac that all employees are suppose to use, yet so many of them claim to not know how. On top of that many of the employees are completely miserable, disrespectful and borderline depressed. Benefits are horrible considering it is a health insurance company, and very few top-notch doctors accept their insurance. Massive layoffs are happening across the company without a single feeling of remorse or compassion from senior management. They outsourced many of the jobs to a company in India, despite claiming to be "New York's leading neighborhood health insurance and wellness company". New senior management promises a new EmblemHealth, but they have no plans or strategies in place to actually make it a reality. They are just a bunch of talk, but no action. They are super top heavy with an insane amount of Directors and VPs, yet nothing is getting done. They have programs completely stalled because they have no one to run them since so many people left without training someone to take their place. Human Resources is absolutely ridiculous and useless - they are neither humane nor resourceful. They discriminate against employees, and they do not work with you or help you out when you have issues with your department or your benefits. They are worried about putting useless rules in place, while they should be trying to bring in better talent and fix the crappy work culture. Many directors/managers don't know how to properly manage their staff, so you will not grow as a person or a professional. Honestly, this place is so bad that it's comical. I'm still trying to understand how it's still functioning. So, in summary - this is the worst job I've ever had in my entire life! EmblemHealth will drive you into full-blown depression or completely mad. Do not take a job here no matter what they pay or how good the job description sounds - in the end it is not worth it.
