Pros

1) Great place to learn 2) Staff is generally friendly 3) Decent health insurance

Cons

1) If you are a new grad nurse, be very careful before signing contract. Our cohort was told one thing - and ended up being offered a contract that exceeded what we were expecting by 30 months and $10,000. This totaled a 2.5 year, $20,000 (early termination penalty). We were asked to sign the contract 1 month after being hired. It was difficult at that point to turn it away having turned down all other offers. 2) New graduate nurses - work anywhere else before Emory. DO NOT sign the contract. You will be stuck making pennies. $23/hour is not competitive especially considering the responsibility Emory nurses shoulder. If you really want to work at Emory, work someplace else first for a year then apply to avoid the residency requirements and contract. 3) If your boss just doesn't like you this will affect your raises and there is very little you can do about it. 4) Don't be fooled by the name - if Emory can cut corners to save cost they will. Nursing is expected to make up the gap.

Pros

company appreciation events company reputation (big name) remote opportunity (after training) very nice administrative facility off major holidays

Cons

They don’t do paid holidays (you have to have the PTO available) or you’ll be short a day on your paycheck. Extremely low pay for a huge workload Micromanagement- THIS IS A BIG ISSUE Managers don’t have a clue on anything so don’t ask - they are just told to babysit you. You have to wait a year before they even add to your 401K There is no formal training, you just sit next to someone and teach yourself. They make a simple job extremely complicated. It could all be so simple. Behind on all technology Unnecessary high call volume They are driving customers away with their horrible planning and marketing issues Managers consistently change what they say and confuse you as well as themselves
