Pros
Get to work with a fun crew. Union protected positions. Union fights for employee rights. Good but not great discounts on services.
Cons
Was once told by store manager that AT&T Retail prefers to hire young men for RSC positions because they are more aggressive and more money hungry. Worked with very few college educated employees. Promotions based entirely on sales performance; no need for people skills or management skills as long as you can get that extra unit sold. Saw too many instances of sales reps taking advantage of customers to get them to sign up for services they either didn't need, want or ask for. I felt uncomfortable working for management that would advice that as long as you worded a sale correctly, they would always back you up if a customer complained. Just felt too many employees and managers lacked ethics. Saw too many ethically questionable employees get promoted into assistant manager positions just to see them fail. Schedules based on seniority, almost guaranteed that if you are not ranked 1 or 2 in the store you will be working most evenings and every single weekend of the year.
