Pros
BlackRock is an excellent firm full of very bright and ambitious people. They live up to their reputation as being the premier asset manager in the industry and have the assets under management to back it up. Smart, driven individuals with excellent communication and presentation skills will have an opportunity to advance their careers. Those that move on from the firm will have the reputation of BlackRock to point to on their resumes.
Cons
At the end of every year there was always a series of new initiatives resulting in a shake up of personnel at the Director - Managing Director level. As a result new teams were constructed and it often resulted in a whole new set of clients for those in client facing roles. It was frustrating to plow new earth and build a whole set of client relationships only to have it taken away and given to someone else. It seemed like this would happen without much regard for the work that was put into building those relationships.
