Pros
Amazing team, professional but friendly atmosphere. Boots UK staff all very friendly too. Excellent optometrists who are always willing to answer any questions and talk you through any queries. Different progression routes - although progression would take quite a bit of time. Really interesting and varied role, always something new to learn - also get a lot of responsibility.
Cons
Area managers far too sales focussed - Boots pride themselves on leading healthcare and think area managers need to keep this in mind instead of constantly putting targets on staff - we should only be going on optom recommendations not what makes Boots the most money per patient. Staff under a lot of pressure and pay does not reflect this, the role itself is very technical and there is a lot of training to be undertaken yet the salary is not much more than general retail. Customer care measure - this is how we are evaluated - customers leave their feedback online - however, it is a *really* poor measurement and the data is completely meaningless due to the way it is coded and analysed - so stores will never have perfect scores overall which isn't great for morale!
