Pros

Some of the people I work with are nice. There are some that keep to themselves which is fine also. There are some people who clearly know what is going on but won't share. My view is nice.

Cons

So many people are leaving. Many people who left worked here from the beginning and now things are just different. Since the company was purchased, everything seemed to flip upside down. We don't do anything as a team anymore. It's very independent work and we don't learn new things. We are stuck on a project, the project ends, we then get terminated. Luckily some people did come back but that was only QA. I'm not sure how that will affect me in my role. And what is the deal with our new manager? He was going to move here but now isn't. He is renting an apartment that is furnished, so he didn't even bring any personal stuff along. I'm not a corporate business person but that doesn't scream permanent to me. I've heard for a long time that the place is closing. At first I didn't believe it but it's hard not to. They told us we were moving, got everyone all up in a panic but yet we didn't move. They took away all our perks, bonuses, fun events to keep us together as a group. They said this social club the company has would be the same but it's not. They want us to pay to be in it. Seems odd that what we once had for free we are now paying for and they call it a perk. I don't know. All these changes are just very upsetting to me. We used to be USA all the way. Now we are Canada and it seems we will always be that 'other' country and not have the same opportunities as the others. Is it true that local people applied for the site manager job? Why weren't they selected since they know us and they know the community. The guy they sent is from Alabama. He doesn't know me and never will. It would be nice to have the community know who we are like it used to be.

Pros

no specific positives to highlight from my perspective

Cons

I worked at CGI in both India and the USA and observed similar workplace culture concerns across both locations. The only real difference was HR—India HR felt more supportive, while my experience with USA HR was disappointing. My employment ended shortly after maternity leave due to an alleged “lack of projects,” which I experienced as a layoff. I also observed what appeared to be misuse of position by some leaders, including blurred professional boundaries, preferential treatment, and expectations that went beyond normal workplace roles—at times resembling personal-assistant-style demands rather than professional conduct. Surprisingly, I also noticed inconsistent “policies” applied differently to different individuals. In some cases, it felt like the rules changed depending on who you were. When leadership became aware that someone was related to another employee in the organization, it sometimes felt like that person was singled out or targeted rather than treated objectively. Overall, these practices—whether through inconsistent treatment, perceived power misuse, or favoritism—undermine trust, damage workplace culture, and raise serious concerns about fairness and professionalism.
