Pros

Eastman Chemical is a company that lives and breathes its ethical business policy. Every email or memo that comes from the CEO to the Department Manager stresses the company's commitment to shareholders, employees, the community, and the environment. Employees are encouraged to volunteer, and those opportunities are spent working side by side with management and company executives. A balanced work and home life are also stressed by management - and they grant you the time to make that happen. They truly believe that happy, fulfilled people make the best employees. Employees are also tasked with holding the company itself to a higher standard, and repeatedly ask employees to act as monitors and advocates for the corporate ethical business policy. The company also works very hard to ensure that they succeed in the business world. Their commitment to success is communicated to everyone from part-time landscapers to administrative assistants to production workers to managers to executives.

Cons

If you aren't prepared to give your best - don't work for Eastman. Eastman demands a commitment to excellence from all of its employees. While the company is great at seeking out new candidates from many walks of life, it sometimes does this at the expense of part-time employees. Turning more part-time employees into full-time employees would make the company a better place to work for. The management structure is also a little top-heavy. With the current trend toward the flattening out of corporate structure, Eastman is behind the times. The company could become leaner by eliminating some of the redundancies at the upper levels.

Pros

Friendly, helpful colleagues. Vast variety of opportunities for engineers, especially younger ones. Actively supporting the communities where we live and work. Recent changes in management have restored positive outlook.

Cons

A lot of eggs are in the circular-economy basket rather than having the risk more evenly distributed among our product streams. We've lost a lot of talent recently to other businesses, partly because of unhappiness with former management but partly because of pay. Annual pay increases exist but have not even come close to keeping up with inflation.
