Pros

- Good entry level job for someone trying to establish a career in asset protection - Ability to travel to different locations and partner with law enforcement agencies and other retail partners - Habitual Offender tracking and Organized Retail Crime experience - Business partnership with General Managers to help reduce institutional shrink - Freedom to develop own work pace (schedule based off Area Asset Protection Manager input and needs of business)

Cons

- continuously adding more responsibility while not increasing pay - roles and responsibilities listed in job description change to "the needs of the company" - told that portions of your job (internal theft / interviewing certification) will not happen until you are placed on an unwritten "bench" list. This is then used to show that you can only be rated "good" because you arent performinng all aspects of your job. - growth is limited due to unofficial hiring freezes. When an Asset Protection Coordinator leaves the company, they are not being replaced. This leads to more work for the people that stay. - unclear role responsibilities leads to different understandings between districts. (Ex. Atlanta operating different than Oklahoma, Florida operating different than Texas)
