Pros

Glassdoor has a policy of hiring only good people with good intentions and I can truly say this is the case. I’ve only encountered great humans who want to do good work, support their colleagues and make the platform better. Leadership genuinely cares about the wellbeing of the workforce, although they’re cornered by limited budgets. Even with these limitations, I really do appreciate my colleagues across various business sectors. Everyone is smart, nimble and kind. We have a such a great legacy to build upon. I feel like I’m able to show up as my authentic self everyday and share life stories with my peers that help make work feel more a part of life than separate from it. I’m trusted to get my work done on a schedule that suits me and I’m never questioned about my calendar.

Cons

The last few years have been tough for every team at Glassdoor. We have so much potential but we are at the mercy of limited resources. It seems like we’re going about growth and innovation at snail speed and are neglecting our paying customer’s needs when all we want to do is offer great products that help reinvent hiring processes. The trade offs Product seems to be making to accommodate these limitations is disheartening but it’s not their fault. Our move to Community will feel better when we make it helpful for customers. From a morale perspective, we also don’t get to see each other in person often or at all, although I’m hoping this may change with forthcoming investments in company gathering strategy. We all desperately want to be together in person for an event. I’ve been here for 3 years and barely know anyone outside of my immediate team outside of Zoom. I’d love to meet cross functional partners on other teams, share a meal and discuss our goals or aspirations… or talk about non-work interests. We’ve lost a bit of our culture magic because of a remote first approach.

Thanks for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and insightful review. Good People is one of our core values, so it’s always heartening to see stories of what this means for our employees. I have confidence that our strategy and transformation to become a worklife community will bring benefits to both our users and customers and I understand the eagerness to move even faster. We are making bold moves that require tough tradeoffs and take time, but know that we are intensely focused on balancing the needs of our customers, users and employees. Finally, as a remote first company I completely agree that creating moments for in-person connection are vital, and I’m glad we’re putting additional investment here this year. - Owen Humphries, Chief Operating Officer

Pros

The benefits and culture were probably the best I've ever had. Even better than the benefits were the people I worked with. I enjoyed coming into work and doing my job and really stood behind the company tag line of helping people find jobs they love.

Cons

During covid things started getting bad. Like many other companies layoffs came around and how the company handled those were terrible. You show up one day and next thing you know you lose access and cryptic email and then your'e gone. This happened again in 2025. They brought in person whose job it was to basically get people to leave. They didn't care about the content on the site, or any of the efforts in place to promote integrity and transparency and instead just wanted to shove AI down everyone's throat. What's sad is that Glassdoor was once a great company that I was proud to say I worked for. Now it's just like everywhere else, AI, AI, AI and trying to get people to quit before the next round of layoffs.
