Pros
Fair entry level pay (Pre-pandemic) Fridays WFH Getting paid while off a contract ("bench")
Cons
After 3 years and multiple assignments, Infosys claimed a background check on my history, 'due to the client.' Previous position was OTJ (on-the-job) training, unpaid. They demanded a W2, again unpaid OTJ, and released me after 3 years of employment with them. You will be on your own and get no support to land a contract (get yourself off the "bench") Considering their job is outsourcing, this was amazing that they can't help get their own employee on a job. Each contract-job has non-transferrable skills. Once you get on you will have to learn as if you just started college, and once you get off the software you needed to learn won't go to the next company. Many contract-jobs are non development positions, over-specific to the company. Good for your resume, not good for your skills as a developer. Vanguard (& possibly Northern Trust) is the worst account. They 'on-board' you during a pandemic, do nothing to start you, then 'off-board' you without reason nor notice.
