Pros
Decent salary and benefits, although benefits are self-administered. Decent time off, vacations, and holidays. Some sites seem to have a "family" feeling with lower level employees caring about each other even off the job.
Cons
Career advancement opportunities are limited -to-non existant, especially for women. Nepotism, cronyism, and favoritism run rampant. Management fosters the dysfunction by hiring and promoting those who are willing to look the other way, and by controlling the dissemination of needed information to only those who are willing to check their ehtics at the door. Publishing mission statements and white papers touting the company culture as one of caring is not an accurate portrayal of what actually happens in the "trenches".
