Pros

Decent salary for seasonal assistant work (£14 an hour). Decent benefits. Opportunities to meet lots of new people with different skills while working on projects.

Cons

Zero hour contract meant I would miss communications on days I didn't have any work to do unless I logged in everyday, which felt like doing unpaid work. Felt much too corporate which wasn't what I wanted from an ecology job. Health and safety felt extreme; hundreds of training videos to watch and had to fill out a detailed travel plan for even the most insignificant of journeys. Felt like I was spending 25% of time just on H&S/risk assessments. Had to stay away from home a lot of weeks.
