Pros
- Smart and approachable colleagues
- Great culture (Team outings, non-toxic, continuously improving)
- Power to make change (Product and culture)
- Managers that care about their reportees
- Valuing new hires on their attitude and team compatibility as opposed to just their skills (skills can be learned)
- The closest to agile development I have seen (the process is actually agile and adapts to the individual teams and products as opposed to a fixed process)
- Incredibly talented colleagues that want to work towards the same goal
I was initially worried about the Glassdoor reviews, but it is clear from my time at Jagex that these were from a previous era which was, reportedly, clandestine and very 'this is how we have always done things'. That does not appear to be representative of anything I have seen in my time here as the department's new leadership is extremely efficient and continuously strive for improvement using their expertise but more importantly feedback from the team members.
- Flexi hours
- Healthy work/life balance
- Rewards for top performers
- Office
- AFK (Bistro/Cafe)
- Career progression (although the routes are not currently articulated, progression and promotions are definitely happening)
- Benefits (Health, Pension, Flash bonuses, pay review, holidays, sick pay, etc.)
Cons
- Not all departments are the same and have not managed to progress culturally as well as Tech's
- Terrible traffic in the evening on the science park
- Needs more parking, however, more spaces are in the process of being acquired
