Pros
- Great place to develop problem solving abilities. - Able to get CPA review program - You will gain analytic abilities, refine your communication abilities, and improve your Excel skills.
Cons
- I was working busy season hours for most of the year. Management is not aware of burnout. - Pay is low when compared with other big 4 and even lower when compared to the hours worked. - Goal setting is purely a ritual. No one tracks that. Goals can even be unrealistic. As long as you meet the hours, you are good. - People are not too friendly (at least in the RE practice). Comradery is very clustered. You either belong to a turf or you are by yourself ignored by others and added to side engagements (same with social events). - You can potentially run into managers with a toxic management style. - You will rarely be taught anything by a senior or manager. You learn on the go. This can be stressful and you could be belittled by the manager with the toxic style. - I was asked once "why are you taking PTO?" - Gossiping is a real thing here lol
