Pros
PPD provides tremendous opportunity for learning and training in the industry. The company is quality driven and focused on results. The company has a constant influx of work in the last two fiscal years and a backlog. Employees rarely worry about layoffs or unemployment. The career advancement process is employee driven and in theory one should always know where one stands in relation to upcoming promotions and bonuses. In comparison to other jobs I have had PPD provides good benefits not only for the individual but for families as well. PPD has many offices and thus many opportunites to relocate.
Cons
PPD does not pay as much as many other CRO's. PPD is not as open and honest with their employees as many would like and expect. Changes are unveiled all at once with little information provided at the time of a major change. Junior management does not often know what is going on until their employees do. There is a fair amount of voluntary turnover amongst PPD employees who are seeking better pay. CRA's are often overworked and underpaid and studies tend to be understaffed as the company strives to save money and stay within their 50 percent profit margin.
