Pros

I love doing security and enjoyed going to different sites and training people

Cons

I got promoted to Field Training Supervisor in 2013 because I planned to leave, due to no room for promotion, but I had difficulty getting the correct pay and wasn't always treated as a supervisor. I felt like a supervisor of convenience. When they needed me to do something or deal with a situation it was "but you're a supervisor" but other times they would act like I wasn't. When the manager that gave me the position left, my pay started being correct (he's the one that gave me the position and pay but wanted to change my pay to the min any chance he got) the next manager acknowledged my position and used me to the best of my abilities. Subsequent managers were varying degrees in between. I took a demotion in the summer of 2023 to site supervisor to make more money. The company lost the contract soon after and they didn't have adequate hours or pay for me. I found out, through the new manager, that HR told them my position was "made up". Of course it was, all new positions are made up. The issue is, it was never put in the computer. HR knew this and let me continue thinking my position was valid. I even have emails with my title and rank right on it. I performed many supervisor tasks, including supervising temp sites and even going to new sites and figuring out what the client wanted then training the new site officers on how to do it. When I got an officer of the month award instead of supervisor of the month, I asked about it and was lied to. I was told only site supervisors got the supervisor award. I told the new manager that if I apply for a position and they tell the new company I was not the training supervisor, we would have a legal issue because I had proof of what I was told my position was. I had planned to stay with securitas after the contract was lost and was going to use vacation days to supplement short hours. I was told that was fine. However, when the new company offered me more and I decided to switch over, securitas refused to pay my vacation stating that they needed more notice. So either they lied about me being able to supplement hours or they lied about it not being enough notice. I requested the vacation policy because state law says that have to pay the vacation unless it clearly states in the policy they don't. They gave it to me, but they didn't seem happy about it. I still can't get my last 6 months pay stubs. I had it as paper pay stubs and they decided to go fully paperless. When I asked about getting them I got a link to a verify employment site which I couldn't access. I don't need to verify my employment, I need a copy of my pay stubs. I feel like I was lied to for over 10 years just to keep me there, and when I left, it all came out. I was told I'm rehirable but when I asked about a position posted on their site I was told to "find the details on Indeed". The job wasn't posted on Indeed, it was posted on their job site. Even if it was, they could have given me the information. I feel they're upset that I left and that's why they refuse to give me the information I asked for. Some of the people that work for the company are good people, but over all, the company lies to get what they want and refuses to give pertinent information. I even got in trouble on a few occasions for telling officers they aren't required to use their personal phones for company use without compensation and explaining the 4 hour show up pay that the manager didn't want to pay (if you're scheduled and show up but are sent home, because you aren't needed, they pay 4 hours) and other such things. I wish they cared more about their employees than their profits. The pay isn't the best, but most security jobs in this area aren't. They could pay more, but they want that higher profit margin. In conclusion, I feel I was lied to in order to keep me with the company instead of making it official or telling me the truth. Some managers will screw you out of pay if they get the chance, some will work hard to ensure your pay is correct. I love doing security, I just wish they ran an honest company that cared about the loyal officers that make them money.

Pros

The only thing that I enjoyed while working here was the team that I had the privilege to work with. My employment was on a tech team which was a vendor with a larger Tech company. I was able to network and meet some amazing people that allowed myself to connect with others in the tech industry.

Cons

My experience with this company was extremely disappointing. I raised serious workplace concerns related to disability-related treatment, harassment, and overall employee support through internal reporting channels, but I did not feel those concerns were handled with the urgency, fairness, or accountability they deserved. The issues continued for a significant period of time, despite repeated attempts to report them properly. After I provided additional details that were requested as part of the internal reporting process, I was removed from my client assignment. In my opinion, the timing and handling of that decision felt retaliatory, especially because it happened after I raised concerns and participated in the company’s reporting process in good faith. I was initially told that another placement would be pursued, and there was communication for several weeks. However, I was ultimately separated from the company under a “Non-Placement Termination.” The experience left me feeling unsupported and gave me serious concerns about how employee complaints, workplace concerns, and follow-through are handled.
