Cons
Decelerators below 80% quota attainment. Comp Plan is generally unattainable. Quota attainment (at least for retail) is based off a verbal of revenue from the merchants. This has lead to massive abuse, and outright fraud. Reps have just been lying about revenue to pad their numbers, and an entire team was fired because they were even signing documents on merchants behalf. Prior to that, they were the golden children of the org. Therefore everyone's quota is based off history that is a LIE. Many reps cashed in, and bailed. Some are still around with loftier titles, It's actually a joke. This lead to all sales being audited, which didn't catch the actual fraud, but became a thorn in the side of every rep to go fight for their deals they sold, and waste everyone's time, and even strip duly earned income from reps. Infighting and stealing of accounts and deals for different teams due to territory both physical and revenue. People are genuinely miserable, and morale is low. Everyone thinks they're about to get laid off. Territories are assigned for an entire year, and everyone has bombarded them all by the end of Q2, leaving you with two more quarters to just badger the same people again. Very little chance of promotion, even though the org is massive. Leadership does not care about career development. Shopify has done massive layoffs before of their sales org, and it really feels like they can't figure it out, and they're about to wipe the slate clean again. Support genuinely sucks for merchants, and some people's entirely livelihood is tied up in their businesses, and Shopify can just unilaterally lock them out for something they didn't even do and hold their money indefinitely.
