Pros
The easy going, competent, and general hardworking team members which make each day bearable.
Cons
The executive level managers are completely incompetent about what it takes to run the sales floor. They will continue to add on the responsibilities and will constantly change their minds. All of the ETLs are never on the same page and cannot communicate effectively. Their leadership failures become OUR (TLs) problems and we are blamed for everything, yet we can never blame them. They are quick to point out failures, but never wins. They continue to push everyone to the breaking point and encourage you to challenge upward, but when you do they call it being insubordinate. Did I mention that the ETLS never lift there finger to do any work? They don't even know how to print a label or clean up a spill. But God forbid, if a visit is coming they will run around like rats on a hot tin roof and will blow every team leaders plans out of the water for that day for another potential visit, which usually is amiss. It is all about the ETLs, they will cancel your plans for weeks if they need to in order for you and your teams to help them finalize their projects...yet at the end of the week you will be coached for not finishing your workload on time. Add in the fact that Target wants TLS to be business owners and you now have us running the floor, covering LOD shifts, making schedules, ordering, doing leadership statuses, planning sets, etc. and it really makes me wonder about the ETLS "What exactly do you do?" Oh I forgot, you are like a slave driver, the one whom corporate hires from outside of TARGET because any internal promotion would know better than to ask us to do what they do. Someone who is fresh out of college can easily be blind and ask unrealistic expectations. Really, what you have at Target is a culture of FEAR, fear of speaking against anything, fear of unions, fear of not finishing your work and unrealistic expectations BECAUSE of incompetent managers and CHEAP CEOS whom only want profit and will staff the store by a shoelace. There are never enough cashiers and equipment and corporate is always messing up on everything from AD signs, to POG numbers, to signing. They can't even provide us with a printer that works. Every month we have to get a workorder for the refurbished Lexmark printer which prints the ENTIRE stores labels. HA, as a team leader in charge of every planogram in the store, this is just awesome. Honestly, I have seen ETLs come and go, if you are honest, caring, and a hardworker you should just forget about getting ahead at Target. You have to be a selfish, evil person to be an ETL at Target. To know that team members will get a .08-.24 cent raise after a year of high expectations and to treat them so cruel is inhumane. Team leaders have to deal with all the problems, including answering to the .08 raise that they must give the team members---while the ETLs sit in the conference room and drink starbucks and gab for hours on non-work related topics. The problem is unrealistic expectations expected from corporate which get handed down to ETLs and the mindless ETLs "Push" these ideas down towards (TLs) and since many of the people whom work here seem like they could not get another job elsewhere, they succumb and and accept everything given from "above."
