Pros

Travelers provides great opportunities for their employees for career advancement; the leadership programs being a star of that. However, outside of dedicated programs, most organizations promote from within and work deeply with their employees to understand the wants and needs of their career and help them achieve their goals. Largely, Travelers listens to it's employees and caters to their needs by providing great benefits both in and out of the office.

Cons

Technologically, Travelers is working to update a lot of systems and infrastructure. This is not hindering in most roles and is a small con compared to the long list of pros. In this regard, Travelers is investing heavily in systems and infrastructure updating, and largely doing this with hiring more talent and partnering with other tech companies to achieve our goals.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
