Pros

Good training. Lots of work so job security and overtime. Will probably get donuts in the office.

Cons

Does not listen to employees. Management is out of touch and cares more about getting back to golf tournaments than it’s employees. Employees have experienced the power of work life flexibility which has enhanced the quality of their lives and work. Executives say they believe in innovation and engagement but do not listen. Employees increased profit and production by working from home this last year. “Leadership”does not know how to control the employees without walking around the office everyday with their coffee cup in hand asking for TPA reports. Don’t buy the hype about environmental sustainability or engaged employees.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
