Pros

You will find some amazing people to work with and the environment/company is stable.

Cons

This is a hard review to write because I have really enjoyed my time here and, after working multiple other places in my 15 years had planned to retire here however, after 3 years, I am currently in the middle of 3 interviews to leave. Travelers and Alan have completely miss-handled return to office. They refuse to listen to, not just hear, their employees. They are sending gas lighting emails going "look how happy everyone is to be back" when you, in reality, wouldn't be able to find a dozen people who want to be forced in 3 days a week. The inflexible model has sent us 10 steps back in our DE&I policies, especially in equity for women and households with 2 working parents as well as sustainability. Raises this year didn't take into account inflation or RTO with parking payments and gas. And I hear horror story after horror story of managers guilting employees who want to take advantage of the meager hybrid offering. I have been so disheartened watching this company that I thought shared my values take such an old fashioned, inflexible approach that negatively impacts so many. Especially when we all have worked our tails off the past 2 years and have had excellent results. I hope they can turn it around however at this point, when people tell you who they are, you should probably listen.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
